Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, how long we keep it, and how users can contact us about their information.
1. Who Controls Your Data
Traders Journal, managed by the Traders Journal team at Kolkata, West Bengal, India, controls the data collected through this app and website. We operate primarily from India and also serve users in other countries.
If you have any privacy question, you can contact us at [email protected], or on WhatsApp at +44 7480250808 or +91 89612 37518.
2. What We Collect
We may collect information such as your email address, account details, WhatsApp number, login-related details, and any information you submit while using the app.
We may also collect trade journals, notes, screenshots, uploads, profile settings, referral details, support messages, and product usage information needed to operate the service.
If you connect a third-party trading service, we may collect the provider name, account identifiers, authorization or access tokens, connection status, and synchronization settings. The two integration types collect different information, and each is described separately in Sections 3 and 4.
If you use Google sign-in, we may receive basic profile information from Google. If you make a payment, we may receive payment status and transaction details from PayPal or another payment provider, but not your full card details from the processor.
3. Trade Sync Integration
A Trade Sync Integration imports user-approved orders, fills, positions, fees and trade history into that user’s private journal. Depending on what you authorize, this may also include executions, commissions, account identifiers, instrument details, timestamps, and related trade records.
We use this data to establish and maintain the connection, import and update trades, prevent duplicates, show synchronization history, provide your analytics, resolve connection problems, and protect your account and the platform. Trade Sync is read-only: we do not use it to place, modify, cancel, or manage orders, or to move funds.
Imported records are stored in your private journal and are visible only to you, unless you personally choose to share them using the product’s own sharing features. We do not publish your imported trade records or make them available to other users, and we do not sell them.
4. Market Data Integration
A Market Data Integration provides live and historical candle data from the user’s own provider subscription, only for that connected user. We may receive live prices, historical prices, candle data, instrument details, exchange information, and entitlement or subscription status made available through your connected provider account.
We use this data only to provide charts and related market-data features to the user whose own provider account supplied that access. Availability depends on that user’s provider permissions, account status, subscriptions, exchange entitlements, and applicable limits.
Market data obtained through your connection is not shared, resold, redistributed, sublicensed, published, or made available to other Traders Journal users. It is never pooled, mirrored, or reused to serve any other account, and we do not sell it or use it to build a separate data product.
We may temporarily cache limited market data for performance, reliability, and rate-limit management, and only to the extent your provider permits. We do not retain or reuse provider market data beyond that purpose.
5. How We Receive Consent For Connections
We import account and trade data only after you choose a provider, start the connection, and authorize the requested access. Authorization may be provided through the provider’s sign-in or consent page, an API token you supply, a terminal pairing code, or another clearly described connection method.
Each integration type is authorized separately. Enabling a Trade Sync Integration does not enable a Market Data Integration, and enabling a Market Data Integration does not grant access to your orders, fills, positions, fees, or trade history.
You may withdraw this permission by disconnecting the integration. This stops future access and synchronization, but it does not automatically delete information already imported into your journal. You may delete imported trades separately or request deletion of your account and associated data.
6. Why We Use Your Data
We use personal data to create and manage your account, provide core features, save your journals and settings, process payments, respond to support requests, prevent misuse, and improve the product.
Data received through a Trade Sync Integration or a Market Data Integration is used only for the purposes described in Sections 3 and 4, and only for the user who authorized that connection.
We may also use your data to communicate important service updates, billing information, account notices, and product-related support messages.
7. Legal Basis For Processing
Where data protection law such as the EU or UK GDPR applies to you, we rely on the following legal bases. We process account, journal, and billing data to perform our contract with you and to deliver the service you signed up for.
We rely on your consent for third-party connections. You choose to connect a provider and authorize the access, and you may withdraw that consent at any time by disconnecting the integration.
We rely on our legitimate interests to keep the platform secure, prevent fraud and abuse, maintain reliability, and improve the product, balanced against your rights and expectations. We rely on legal obligation where we must keep records for tax, accounting, or other statutory requirements.
Where Indian law applies, we process personal data for the lawful purposes described in this policy and on the basis of the consent or legitimate uses recognised under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
8. How We Share Data
We do not sell your personal data.
When you choose an integration, we exchange only the information reasonably needed to authenticate the connection, request the data you authorized, refresh access, and maintain synchronization with that provider. Each provider processes information under its own terms and privacy policy.
Trade Sync data stays in your private journal. We do not make your imported orders, fills, positions, fees, or trade history available to other Traders Journal users, and we do not sell, sublicense, publish, or redistribute it.
Market data obtained through your Market Data Integration is used only for your own connected experience. It is not shared, resold, redistributed, sublicensed, published, or made available to other Traders Journal users under any circumstances.
We may share limited data with trusted service providers only when needed to run the service, such as hosting, authentication, storage, communications, security, support, and payment providers. These providers may use the data only for the services they supply to us, subject to their agreements and applicable law.
We may also disclose data if required by law, to protect the platform, or to respond to fraud, abuse, or security issues.
9. International Processing
Traders Journal is operated from India, while some connected providers and service providers may process data in other countries. Where data is transferred internationally, we take reasonable steps to use providers and protections appropriate to the information and applicable law.
10. Cookies, Local Storage, And Sessions
We use cookies, session tools, and local storage where needed to keep you signed in, protect accounts, remember preferences, and make the product work properly.
If we add additional analytics or tracking tools later, we may update this policy and our cookie disclosures.
11. Data Retention, Disconnection, And Deletion
We keep your data for as long as your account stays active, because that is what lets your journal, history, and analytics keep working for you.
If you delete something, it is removed from your journal. If you delete your account, we delete your account data. Connection tokens and similar authorization details are deleted or revoked when you disconnect an integration or close your account.
Trade Sync: imported trade history remains in your private journal until you delete it or request deletion of your account and associated data. Disconnecting a provider stops future synchronization but does not delete trades already imported, because those records may form part of your journal and analytics.
Market Data: data is accessed only while needed to provide the requested chart or related feature, and any caching is limited as described in Section 4. We do not build a historical market-data store from your subscription for other users or for our own separate use.
If you want your account and associated data removed, use the available account controls or contact us using the support details above. We may keep limited information for as long as required for legal, tax, security, billing, dispute-resolution, or fraud-prevention reasons.
12. Security And Breach Notification
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational steps to protect user data and connection details, including access controls and encryption where appropriate. No online service can promise absolute security.
If a personal data breach occurs that affects you, we will notify you and the relevant supervisory or regulatory authority without undue delay, in the manner and within the timeframes required by applicable law, and we will explain what happened and what you can do about it.
You should also protect your own account by using a strong password and avoiding unauthorized sharing of your login access.
13. Children And Minimum Age
Traders Journal is intended for adults and is not directed at children. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use the service.
We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected such data, we will delete it and close the account. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.
14. Your Rights And Choices
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to request access, correction, or deletion of your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent, and to receive a copy of your data in a portable form.
You may review or delete imported trades, disconnect a Trade Sync Integration or a Market Data Integration independently, withdraw future synchronization permission, and request deletion of your account and associated data.
We will review and respond to reasonable privacy requests through our support channels, free of charge and within the time required by applicable law.
15. Grievance Redressal
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your personal data or a privacy request, you can escalate it to our Grievance Officer, Ashfaque, by email at [email protected].
We will acknowledge a grievance promptly and respond within the period required under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and other applicable law. If you remain unsatisfied, you may raise the matter with the relevant data protection authority in your jurisdiction.
16. Changes To This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the product, our providers, or the law changes. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
Where changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify you before they take effect, for example by email or an in-app notice. Continued use of the service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
